“Out of all the “therapies” we’ve had him in, this has been one of the most beneficial and, truthfully, the only one we’ve continued with even after all others ended.”
“I had my 5 year old son evaluated by Jackie Baker in March 2014 and she has been working with him on his articulation and language disorder ever since. When he began therapy with Jackie, his preferred mode of communication was non-verbal. He would point and grab things to express his wants and needs. When he chose to speak it was very difficult for someone who didn’t know him well to understand him. Through naturalistic play, PROMPT, and group therapy, she has helped my son’s language progress from slightly intelligible to mostly intelligible. His sentence structure has moderately improved and continues to progress. His sentences are longer, expressive and receptive speech are much improved, and most impressively his spontaneous speech is strongly emerging. She has helped advocate for services for him at school meetings and written reports in support of his needs upon request. In return my son and I have both developed a personal bond with her. She is very professional and extremely dedicated to helping him reach his full potential. ”
“Gabriella is a fantastic professional! She is energetic, positive, honest, and so encouraging. Our son loves his time with her each week and she has been critical to his amazing progress since he started therapy.”
“Jackie is my son’s speech therapist and has been working with him since April 2017. She’s been fantastic with him and we trust that her insights on him will be valuable to you and your team. Jackie will continue to work with him going forward. ”
“It’s nice to see how much he’s talking and making long conversations! Thank you for all your great help. I’d like to have him in your social group. And of course I want you to visit the school in Sept/Oct. ”
“Yes, I have heard great things about you and in general I love the ESDM and hope to attend a training in it in the future...I will send the parents your email today. ”
“ Looks great! You are so wonderful; I wish I could work with you always. ”
“Thanks for the detailed and very helpful summaries. These sound like great creative sessions, and we really appreciate the descriptions.”
“Thank you so much for all of the wonderful work you’ve done with him so far. He really likes you and we feel very lucky to have you on his/our team. Hopefully when we come back you all will be having even more colorful conversations than you already are. ”
“I really do appreciate all of your help. We would be lost without you! ”
“In 2006 we hired Jackie Baker to work full time with our then 9 year old son with autism who was being home schooled. We met Jackie at his OT’s office. She had been working with a younger boy with special needs who no longer needed full time support. It was quickly apparent that Jackie’s training at Carnegie Mellon in speech and her work in theatre was incredibly useful because she connected with our son very quickly. While working with us full-time for 3 and 1/2 years, she attended 3 hours a week of speech and 2 hours of OT with our son, ensuring that the goals set by his therapists were communicated to everyone in his life and were being consistently implemented. She received behavioral training, attended and contributed to team meetings, and worked with my son’s peers to facilitate socialization. Jackie shadowed our son at summer camp, setting goals for him weekly, and became a master at encouraging the typically developing children to play with him, while teaching our son to play with them. This past spring, just before our son turned 19, we learned that Jackie was opening a private practice. We asked her to resume working with our son as a speech pathologist and supervise our home-based team, while coordinating goals in many aspects of his life. She has helped us develop pre-vocational goals, designed critical visual supports, and worked on essential communication and social skills. While our son has many challenges in his life, we know he will continue to grow with the help, insight, and skill offered by Jackie.”
“Jackie Baker is a very enthusiastic and hard working speech-language pathologist. She is methodical and organized. Jackie has developed an excellent speech and language program for our son. She is prompt and she uses her time effectively. She does an excellent job of keeping our son on track. In addition, she has created a very useful vocabulary building program. We recommend her highly.”
